With the UEFA Futsal EURO just breaking all records for viewers and futsal in England on the brink of a boom, schools are about to play a vital part in the sport’s growth in the Wirral and beyond.
The School Sports magaize recently wrote about the growth of futsal and schools’ part in that, with England manager Michael Skubala saying, “It promotes and practices both inclusivity and diversity and is a sport for players and coaches from different genders, ethnic backgrounds, faiths, ages, sexual orientation and the disabled.”
Tranmere Rovers have been delivering successful futsal programmes in schools across the Wirral and have organised the school games for the last two years. Several players have gone on from school programmes to the futsal academy and the kids have loved playing this new sports.
Futsal was recently quoted as being the number one sport on the Wirral, owed to the excellent work being done at Tranmere Rovers. Most children know what it is and have played or experienced it in some form or another.
Now is the perfect time to get Tranmere Rovers futsal coaches into your school for extra curricular activities or PE lessons. Sessions are based around technical skills, but also include a bit of Spanish, futsal homework (small tasks to get the kids interested in the sport) and of course, loads of fun.
